I'm new to spread betting, where do I start?

The first step is to open an account. You can apply online in just a few minutes using our automated form, or download and print a PDF form if you prefer.

Do I need to send any documents to open an account with IG Index?

In the vast majority of cases you will not need to send us any supporting documents as we can verify your address details online. Occasionally we will be unable to confirm your identity online (for example if you have moved house recently), and in such cases we will contact you in order to verify your details.

Can I apply from outside the UK?

Yes, we can accept applications from most countries except:

• United States, Turkey: not permitted for legal reasons.
• Australia: we have an operation licenced in Australia and cannot accept customers directly to the UK through this site. Please visit www.igmarkets.com for CFD and FX trading.

Which type of account should I apply for?

We offer a number of different types of account, each suited to varying levels of experience and risk capital. If you are new to spread betting we suggest you consider our Limited Risk Account, where Guaranteed Stop Losses must be attached to all trades so that you know exactly how much is being risked.

Can I use the Guaranteed Stop on all account types?

Yes, all our account types allow access to the full range of our Guaranteed Stops.
