Payment Methods
We are pleased to offer a comprehensive range of ways to pay funds into and out of your account. This section describes the methods you can use to deposit and withdraw funds from your IG Index account.
Depositing funds
We welcome payment by any of the following methods:
- UK debit card (Maestro, Visa-Delta, Solo, Electron)
- Irish Laser card
- Credit card (Visa, MasterCard)
- Bank transfer
- Cheque
For all payment methods there is a minimum amount of £10, or the equivalent in the currency of your account.
We will charge a 1.5% administration fee for credit and non-UK debit card payments. UK debit cards will not be charged. However, you may also pay fees to the payment provider if you pay by credit card or bank transfer. Please check with your bank and/or card provider for more information.
UK debit card and Irish Laser card
The easiest way of depositing funds is a secure on-line payment by debit card. We accept UK Maestro, Visa-Delta, Solo and Electron cards, as well as Irish Laser card.
Debit card payments can be made electronically once you log in to this site. Successfully authorised payments will be available immediately.
Credit cards
We accept Visa and MasterCard. For legal reasons we are unable to accept cards where the cardholder is a US resident.
Credit card payments can be made electronically once you log in to this site. Successfully authorised payments will be available immediately.
We will charge a 1.5% administration fee for credit card payments.
Your credit card provider may treat deposits you place with us as a cash advance (and charge you accordingly). Unfortunately, we are unable to tell if this will be the case.
Bank transfer
Bank transfers are normally credited to your account on the day we receive them. It can take up to four business days for the money to reach us, depending on the transfer method used.
Our bank details are available by logging in and viewing the Help files accessed within the interface.
Cheque
UK customers may pay us by cheque. Cheques must be drawn in sterling on an account with a UK branch of a UK clearing bank. (Cheques drawn in currencies other than sterling or on non-UK banks or on a non-UK branch of a UK bank cannot be accepted.) The bank account must be in the same name as your account with us.
Your account will not normally be credited until your cheque has cleared, which may take up to a week after receipt. In view of the time taken for cheques to clear we do not recommend this method.
Please note that, for your protection from fraud, we may request additional information and proof of identity from you before making a payment. In the absence of other instructions from you, we will generally try to pay you by debit/credit card in the first instance - or else the method with which you most recently funded your account.
Please be aware that the following restrictions and conditions will apply when we send payments to you:
Debit and credit cards
We are unable to make payments to cards issued in a number of countries, including Australia and Hong Kong.
MasterCard rules currently prevent us from making payments to MasterCards which are not issued in the UK.
You will normally receive the payment three business days after the request is processed.
Bank transfer
We will consider requests for bank transfers at our discretion, though our preferred method of payment is via debit/credit card. For UK payments the following fees will apply:
- 3-day sterling payment (BACS): free
- Same-day sterling payment (CHAPS): £15
For international payments a £15 (or equivalent) fee may be applied. We will normally require proof of identity/source of funds before making a bank payment. The bank account must be in the name of the account you hold with this site.
Cheques
We do not normally make cheque payments, but will consider requests at our discretion. We will normally require proof of identity before making a cheque payment. Cheques will be drawn on a UK bank and will be made payable to the name of account holder with this site. We will not issue cheques payable to third parties or to cash.
