Settings for PureDeal

Follow the advice on this page to ensure you get the optimum performance when using PureDeal.

Browser settings: Internet Explorer

Go to 'Tools' then 'Internet Options' and please do the following:

On the Security tab

  • Click on 'Internet', then 'Default Level'.
  • Click on 'Local Intranet', then 'Default Level.'
  • Click on 'Trusted Sites', then 'Default Level', then 'Sites'.
  • Make sure the tick box for 'Server verification' is unticked.
  • Remove 'www.igindex.co.uk' from your trusted sites (if applicable). Please enter our website address as '*.igindex.co.uk' in the space marked 'Add this website to the zone', then click on 'Add'. Then click 'OK'.
  • Click on 'Restricted Sites', then 'Default Level'.

Internet Explorer 7

  • Click on 'Restore all zones to Default Level'.
  • Click on 'Trusted Sites', then 'Sites'.
  • Make sure the tick box for 'Server verification' is unticked.
  • Remove 'www.igindex.co.uk' from your trusted sites (if applicable). Please enter our website address as '*.igindex.co.uk' in the space marked 'Add this website to the zone', then click on 'Add'. Then click 'OK'.

On the General tab

  • Click on 'Delete Cookies', then 'OK'. (Cookies may contain information for a customised webpage or logon information for a website. Before you delete your cookies, you may want to export or save them.)
  • Click on 'Delete Files', tick the box saying 'Delete all offline content', then click 'OK'.
  • Click 'Settings' and make sure 'Automatically' is selected. Then click 'OK'.

Internet Explorer 7

  • Click delete in the 'Browsing History' area.
  • Click on 'Delete Files' in the Temporary Internet Files area.
  • Select 'Yes' in the prompt box.
  • Click delete in the 'Cookies' area.
  • Select 'Yes' in the prompt box. (Cookies may contain information for a customised webpage or logon information for a website. Before you delete your cookies, you may want to export or save them.)

On the Privacy tab

  • Tick the box saying 'Override automatic cookie handling'. Then make sure 'Accept' is selected in both columns. Then tick the box saying 'Always allow session cookies'. Then click 'OK'.

Browser settings: Firefox

Reset Firefox to Default (Version 2.0 and above)

Open a Firefox browser window then click on 'Tools' and then click on 'Clear Private Data', ensure that 'Cache' and 'Cookies' are ticked and click 'Clear Private Data Now'. (Cookies may contain information for a customised Web page or logon information for a website. Before you delete your cookies, you may want to export or save them.)

Click on 'Tools' and then click on 'Options' and then follow the instructions below:

On the Content tab

  • Ensure JavaScript option is ticked.
  • Ensure 'Enable Java' is ticked.

On the Privacy tab

  • Ensure 'Accept cookies from sites' is ticked.
  • Click on 'Show Cookies' tab then click 'Remove All Cookies'. Then click on 'Close'.

If you’re running an old version of Firefox then please upgrade to Version 2 or above. Please follow the instructions below on how to download Firefox 2 for free.

  • Go to www.getfirefox.com
  • Click on the 'Free Download' link.
  • Click 'Run' (or 'Open') when prompted: 'Do you want to Run or Save?'
  • Click 'Run' when prompted: 'Do you want to run this software?'
  • Click 'Next' when the Welcome to Firefox page comes up.
  • Accept the License Agreement Terms and click 'Next'.
  • Click 'Next' until the software is installed and the Install Complete window comes up, then click 'Finish'.
  • The Firefox browser should now be launched automatically (it might take up to a minute for it to launch depending on the performance of your computer).
  • When asked if you want to import the entries and files from Internet Explorer, select 'No'.
  • When asked if you want to set Firefox as the default browser, select 'No', and make sure the 'Ask again when browser starts box' is unticked.

Uninstalling Toolbars

Toolbars or plugins for Internet Explorer (e.g. Google Toolbar) can affect the performance of PureDeal by interfering with our live streaming data.

To uninstall from the Control Panel:

  • Click the Windows Start menu in the lower-left corner of your screen.
  • Select 'Settings', then 'Control Panel'.
  • Double-click 'Add or Remove Programs'.
  • Select 'Google Toolbar for IE'.
  • Click the 'Remove' button.
